Abstract
This research was conducted and planned to define affect of attitude and behaviors of their parent to self-esteem of adolescents. The universe of this descriptive research included of 750 students at Ataturk High School in Ordu. Ali of the high school students were wanted to take part in our study but only 690 high school students accepted to take part in the questionnaire. The data were collected with questionnaire and Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory between May 12-13, 2004. The analysis of data was done with percentage, arithmetic mean, Standard deviation, ANOVA variance analysis, t test, Kruskal Wallis test in SPSS 11.5 Computer program. The mean of self esteem point of adolescents is 59.14}15.37. İt was determined that the statistically significant difference were found the level of self-esteem according to number of sibling (P<.05), Education level of mother (P<.01) and attitude and behaviors of families.

Bu araştırma, ergenlerin benlik saygısına anne-babanın tutum ve davranışlarının etkisini belirlemek amacıyla planlanmış ve uygulanmıştır. Tanımlayıcı tipteki araştırmanın evrenini Ordu ili Atatürk Lisesinde öğrenim gören 750 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada örneklem seçimine gidilmeyerek, öğrencilerin tamamı çalışma kapsamına alınmak istenmiş, ancak ulaşılabilen 690 öğrenci ile çalışılmıştır. Veriler, anket formu ve Coopersmith benlik saygısı ölçeği ile 12-13 Mayıs 2004 tarihlerinde toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizi SPSS 11.5 bilgisayar, istatistik programı yardımıyla, yüzde, aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, ANOVA varyans analizi, t testi ve Kruskal VVallis testi ile yapılmıştır. Ergenlerin benlik saygısı puan ortalaması 59.14± 15.37'dir. Ergenlerin, kardeş sayısı (P<.05), anne eğitim düzeyi (P<.01) ve annebaba tutum ve davranışlarına göre benlik saygısı puanlarının istatistiksel olarak gruplar arası anlamlı fark gösterdiği belirlenmiştir.
