Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the mediating role of parenting attitudes in the relationship between parental technoference and parental burnout. A total of 474 parents participated in the study. The study employed a cross-sectional quantitative approach within a correlational survey design. Data were collected using the Demographic Information Form, the Parental Burnout Assessment Scale, the Parenting Attitude Scale, and the Technology Interference in Life Examples Scale. Pearson Product–Moment Correlation analysis revealed a low-level positive significant relationship between parental technoference and parental burnout. Low-level negative significant relationships were found between parental technoference and democratic parenting attitude, while moderate-level positive significant relationships were found with authoritarian parenting attitude, and low-level positive significant relationships were found with overprotective and permissive parenting attitudes. In addition, bootstrapping analysis was conducted to examine the mediating role of parenting attitudes in the relationship between parental burnout and technoference. The results indicated that authoritarian and permissive attitudes had a full mediating role in this relationship, whereas the democratic attitude had a partial mediating role. It was determined that the overprotective attitude did not show a significant mediating role.
