Abstract

In this study, we will try to show the effect of the concept of “reunion and separation”, which has left its mark on Eastern poetry, on modern Zaza poetry. Social and moral issues and love are the dominant themes used in modern Zaza poetry. Especially the theme of love is the most used theme in modern Zaza poetry. In connection with this theme, the notion of “reunion and separation” has also been reflected in modern Zaza poetry in different ways depending on the poets’ poetry styles. In Eastern poetry, verses are generally nourished by the separation and inability of the lover and the beloved to meet. After a while, this separation reaches such a stage that the poet (lover) loses himself with the pain of separation and no longer wants to meet his beloved. In Sufi literature, this love and the pain of separation represent divine love and its separation. That’s why it seems like it’s impossible to get together, and reunion fueled by separation is a long and difficult road. Because during this separation process, the lover’s actions also affect the possibility of reunion. In the poems of many Zaza poets, we see the pain of separation, the troubles, sorrow and pain, the poet’s rebellion and the impossibility of reunion. In modern Zaza poetry, the concepts of reunion and separation are used for worldly love, and divine love is not usually meant in these poems. However, depending on the style of the writers, the concept of reunion and separation takes different forms and is seen in the poems.
