Abstract

In the period after the Battle of Çaldiran, most of the Kurdish lands were ruled by the Kurdish Princes as allies of the Ottomans. The alliance that was established between the Kurds and Yavuz Sultan Selim continued during the time of Qanuni Sultan Suleyman. After Qanuni conquered Baghdad, he gave most of the Kurdish lands in this region to the Kurds. The Kurdish region here, Baban Principality, was governed by the Baban tribe and belonged to the Pashalik of Baghdad. The name of the Baban tribe also appeared prominently in history after the administration of the kingdom. There is a story about the name of Baban and the establishment of the Baban Principality. In this story, Feqe Ahmed the Baban leaves his country and goes to Frengistan to reach Keyhan. This story was narrated by Abdulkadir b. Rustem el-Babanî, Claudius James Rich and Yamûlkîzade Azîz. Yamûlkîzade Azîz wrote some things about the subject in his article in Jîn magazine. But Abdulkadir Rustam-al Babanî and Claudius James Rich wrote the story in a long way. These two versions of the story are similar in some ways and different in some ways. In this work, these two variants will be compared in terms of their similarities and differences.
