In this article, the literary press of the 19th century is examined, mentioningthe main authors (from Larra to Rubén Darío), movements (fromRomanticism to Modernism) and polemics that took place in its pages.Through it, the reader can perceive the ideal of being up to day with whatwas happening in the rest of the European countries. Among the topicsthat are discussed are realism, the arrival of the genre, naturalism andthe end of the century.
