Today, organizations have become aware of the impact of team-building on organizational performance and productivity. For this reason, building high performing teams has an important place in organization’s administrative policies. The level of efficiency in teamwork constitutes one of the pillars of total quality management efforts. Teams should be created through employment of people who can contribute to a complementary set of skills or assigning the roles of people correctly. These teams with high-level problem-solving and decision-making skills are determinants of all kinds of managerial practices. The operational units, which are so vital for organizational structure, should be managed in an effective leadership approach because the work performance of the team is superior to the total performance of team members in team works. However, managing this kind of performance requires getting out of narrow patterns of traditional leaderships. This study, while regarding the concept of team, points out the importance of teamwork on the basis of its connection with efficiency. By outlining a framework for teamwork, it analyses the impacts of a leadership model combined with coaching skills on teamwork and decision- making process.
