Bilgi teknolojisi kullanımının otel performansı ve verimliliğine etkisi

Bu çalışmada, otel işletmelerinde bilgi teknolojisi (BT) kullanımının yaygınlaşması ile birlikte, bunun otelcilik hizmetlerinin yerine getirilmesindeki ve hizmetlerin verimliliği üzerindeki etkileri incelenmiştir. Otellerin hangi BT araçlarını kullandığı, otelin hangi departmanlarının BT'den daha fazla pay aldığı, bu BT'nin sağladığı fayda ve avantajların neler olduğu ve otellerin BT kullanmakla verimliliklerin artıp artmadığı konuları üzerinde çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Otel işletmelerinde BT kullanımının diğer endüstri işletmelerine göre daha yavaş bir gelişim seyri izlediği açıktır. Bunun en önemli sebebi, hizmetin verilmesinde insan unsuruna bağlılığın çok fazla olmasıdır. Halen daha bu bağlılık sürmektedir. Bununla beraber otel müşterilerine daha kaliteli ve hızlı hizmet verilmesine BT önemli katkılar sunmaktadır. Ayrıca BT kullanımının işlem maliyetlerini düşürdüğü, istihdam edilen personel sayısını azalttığı ve işlemlerin daha doğru, kontrolünün kolay ve çıktıların değerlendirilmesinin daha iyi yapılabildiği de açıktır. Çalışmada otel çalışanlarının görüşleri doğrultusunda BT kullanımının sağladığına inanılan avantaj ve varsa dezavantajların neler olduğu bir uygulama çalışmasıyla değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır.

In this study, the spread of Information Technology (IT) usage in hotel services itself and its effects on the service productivity have been examined. Some researches have been done on the subjects such as which IT has been used in the hotels, which hotel departments have taken the bigger, what benefits and advantages of the IT are and whether the productivity of the hotel has been increased by using IT. It is clear that the development trend of IT usage level in hotel services is slower compared to other industrial business. The most important reason is that there is high dependence on people in services. This dependence still persists in the sector. Besides, IT has got important contributions in high qualified and fast service for hotel customers. Moreover, it is apparent that the IT usage cuts down transaction cost and the number of stuff and it can also do the accounts more accurately and control the processes easier and evaluate the outputs better. In the study, in line with the opinions of the hotel stuff, it is tried to be evaluated what the advantages and disadvantages which are believed to be provided by IT are by means of an application study.
