Ortaöğretim kurumlarında coğrafya dersi kapsamındaki çevre konularının öğretiminde aktif öğretim yöntemlerinin rolü

Bu araştırmada, aktif öğretim modeli ile geliştirilerek revize edilen MEB 9. sınıf coğrafya programı kapsamındaki çevre konularının öğretiminde uygulamaya konulan aktif öğretim yöntemlerinin, daha önceki yıllarda uygulanan öğretmen merkezli yöntemlere göre, öğrencilerin çevre tutumları üzerindeki etkilerinin yanısıra, çevre konularının, aktif öğretim yöntemleri ile öğretiminin liselerde uygulanabilirliği, coğrafya öğretmenlerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına dayalı olarak; (1) aktif öğretim modeli ile gerçekleştirilen çevre öğretiminin, öğretmen merkezli çevre öğretimine göre, çevre tutumu yönünden öğrenciler üzerinde daha etkili ve olumlu izler bıraktığı belirlenmiştir. Bu bağlamda, aktif öğretim strateji ve yöntemlerinin ortaöğretimde coğrafya eğitimi alanında kullanılabileceği sonucuna ulaşılmış; (2) öğretmen anketi sonuçlarına dayalı olarak, aktif öğretim modeli ile işlenen dersin planlanması ve uygulanması aşamalarında; sınıf mevcudunun kalabalıklığı, sınıfların fiziksel düzen ve materyal açısından zorluklar içermesi, öğretmenlerin aktif öğretim yöntemleri ile ilgili eğitim programlarına ve seminerlere ihtiyaç duymaları gibi birtakım sınırlılıklar yaşandığı tespit edilerek, bu sınırlılıklara ilişkin öneriler sunulmuştur.

In this research, the active teaching methods which are put into practice for teaching topics related to the environment in geography curricula (Ministry of Education), which is revised by active teaching model for secondary school students in 9th classes, are compared with traditional teaching methods, and the active teaching methods are evaluated in terms of their effects on the students' attitudes towards the environment. Moreover, getting the opinions of geography teachers, we tried to find out to what extent the topics related to the environment that are taught through active teaching methods in secondary schools were practical The findings of this research revealed that (1) there was a more positive effect of active teaching model on secondary education students' attitudes towards the environment compared with traditional teaching methods. In this context, the findings suggest that active teaching methods and strategies can be used in teaching the topics related to environment in geography in secondary education. (2) Based on the results of the teacher survey, in the stages of planning and doing the course using active teaching model, we established a certain number of limiting factors, such as overcrowded classrooms and poor classroom environment in terms of both materials and physical conditions, the necessity for more education programmes and seminars concerning active teaching methods intended for geography teachers, and then some suggestions were made about these limiting factors.
