I. ve iı. dönem tbmm’de niğde milletvekilleri ve faaliyetleri

Milli Mücadeleyi başarıyla gerçekleştirerek yeni Türk Devleti‟ni kuran I. Dönem Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi 23 Nisan 1920‟de Ankara‟da açılmış ve 1920–1923 yılları arasında çalışmalarını yürütmüştür. Nüfus oranlarının dikkate alınmayarak her sancaktan 5 milletvekilinin seçilmesi esasına göre belirlenen I. TBMM‟de Niğde‟yi İtilaf Devletlerince kapatılan Meclisi-i Mebusan‟dan gelen bir üyenin de katılımıyla 6 milletvekili temsil etmiştir. Mondros Ateşkes Antlaşması sonrasında yaşanan işgallere tepki göstermekte gecikmeyen Niğde halkı, Pozantı bölgesinde Fransızlara karşı yapılan mücadelelerde önemli görevler üstlenmiştir. Sivas Kongresi‟ne delege göndererek ülkenin geleceği adına atılacak adımlara destek vereceğini de gösteren Niğde halkı, işgallere sessiz kalan İstanbul hükümetine cephe almaktan çekinmemiştir. I. Dönem Niğde milletvekillerinin tamamı Mustafa Kemal‟i destekleyerek Birinci Grup içerisinde yer almışlardır.1923–1927 yılları arasında faaliyet gösteren ve yeni Türk Devleti‟nin şekillenmesi yolunda önemli inkılâplara imza atan II. Dönem Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi için ise Niğde‟den 4 milletvekili seçilmiştir. Niğde milletvekilleri her iki dönemde de ülke genelini ilgilendiren meselelerin yanında Niğde halkının sorunlarını da meclise taşımışlardır. Birinci dönemde Ata Bey, ikinci dönemde ise Hazım Bey çalışmalarıyla Niğde milletvekilleri içerisinde en dikkat çekici isimler olmuştur. O dönemde Niğde‟ye bağlı olan Aksaray ve Nevşehir kökenli milletvekilleri ise kendi bölgeleriyle ilgili sorunları gündeme getirmişlerdir. Niğde milletvekillerinin komisyonlarda aldıkları görevler, verdikleri kanun teklifleri ve yaptıkları konuşmalar dikkate alındığında TBMM„de önemli görevler ifa ettikleri söylenebilir.

Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which established the new Turkish state by performing the “National Struggle” successfully, was opened on the 23rd of April in 1920 in Ankara and maintained its activities between the years of 1920 and 1923. 1st period of Grand National Assembly of Turkey was determined according to the rule of “five deputies from a district”. Niğde was a district and represented by five deputies and one member from Meclis-i Mebusan (Assembly of Ottoman Empire) which was closed down by Allied Powers. 2nd period of Grand National Assembly of Turkey maintained its activities between the years of 1923 and 1927 and brought in important revolutions. For the 2nd period of Grand National Assembly of Turkey, four deputies were selected from Niğde. Just after the Mondros Ceasefire, Niğde started to react against the French invasion and undertook an important role during the struggle against the French in Pozantı. Besides sending delegates to Sivas Congress to show its support for the plans made for the country‟s future, Niğde did not hesitate to oppose the Istanbul Government which was silent against the invasion. The first term deputies were all the members of the first group by supporting Mustafa Kemal. In both terms, the deputies of Niğde raised not only the questions related with the whole country but also the questions of people who live in Niğde in the National Assembly. Mr. Ata in the first period and Mr. Hazım in the second period were the two names that attracted attention most. Aksaray and Nevşehir were in the borders of Niğde at that time and the deputies who were originally from those districts raised questions of their own. Niğde deputies took charge in the commissions, offered bills and addressed speeches. In consideration of these, it can be said that Niğde deputies fulfilled important duties.
