Gelenek ve modernlik arasında bir eğitimci: satı bey ve fenn-i terbiye adlı eseri üzerine bir inceleme

Türkiye’de eğitimin modernleşmesinde ve çağdaş öğretmenliğin oluşmasında Tanzimat’tan Cumhuriyet’e birçok kişi, kurum ve eser etkili olmuştur. Bunlardan biri de II. Meşrutiyet döneminde farklı eserleriyle eğitim bilimine ve öğretmenliğin itibar kazanmasına katkılar yapan Satı Bey’dir. Onun bu konulara ilişkin en önemli eseri Fenn-i Terbiye (Eğitim Bilimi)’dir. O dönemde yapılan tartışmaların pek çoğu ilk defa Fenn-i Terbiye’de yer almıştır. Eğitimi bedensel, zihinsel, ruhsal ve ahlâkî gelişimin sağlıklı bir bileşeni olarak gören Satı, bu süreçte tarihi, sosyal, kültürel ve çevresel etkenlere de önem vermiştir. Yüksek Erkek Öğretmen Okulu Müdürlüğü sırasında pek çok yeni uygulama başlatmıştır. Satı Bey, geleneksel Osmanlı eğitiminin modern bir yöntemle ifade edilmesine ve uygulamalarının yapılmasına çalışmıştır. Bu süreçte Doğulu ve Batılı düşünürlerden etkilenmiştir. Ancak bu etkiler eserlerinde açıkça görülmez. Bu makalede Satı Bey’in gelenek ile modernleşme arasında nasıl bir eğitim düşüncesine sahip olduğuna değinilmiştir. En önemli eğitim eseri olarak görülen Fenn-i Terbiye incelenerek, çağdaş eğitim bilimi içindeki yeri tartışılmış ve muhtemel kaynakları üzerinde durulmuştur.

Many people, organizations and they works has been effective modernization of Turkish education and formatting of contemporary teacher from Tanzimat to Republic. One of them is Sati Bey. He contributed to gain the reputation of a teacher and sciences of education with his practices and woks in second constitutional period. His most important work on these issues is Fenn-i Terbiye (Science of Education). At that time most of the discussions took place the first time in the Fenn-i Terbiye. Satı Bey regarded to education as a component of physical, mental, psychological and moral development. In this process, he was also important historical, social, cultural and environmental factors in the education. He initiated many new applications during his director of High Teacher School (Darülmuallimin-i Âliye). Satı Bey studied to expression of traditional Ottoman education with modern method. For this he initiated various applications. Eastern and Western thinkers have been affected him in this process. But these effects are clearly visible in his works. In this paper, has been mentioned that Satı Bey had how education idea between tradition and modernization. His most important education work Fenn-i Terbiye has been examined and its place in modern science education discussed and focused on the possible sources
