Child is a social being who has strong ties with the environment in which he is living. The great task that this social entity must acquire character belongs to the society ,because society within itself is the only organization that possesses the values of educating the individuals ideally. In this study, In the tale how Basat kills Tepegoz in the Book of Dede Korkut, the narcissistic personality disorder of the character of “Tepegoz “ was anaysed. According to the researches which are studied on personali ty disorders, it is revealed that at the base of these kind of disorders “object loss” is the main reason. Especially, at preoedipal period, the lack and absence of father imago and mother imago cause damage in the subconscious of the child. In the infancy , narcissistic balance is more crucial than several states of mind that will form personality. The competence of mother who supplies for her child prevents the lingering period that may be destructive at reconstructing the shattered narcissistic balance. In the story analysed, the baby Tepegoz spent “traumatic childhood” due to the motherlessness. Before anything else, he was beaten in the pile he was brought by his cowman father. On the top of it, The Oguz, the most notable of them, Bayindir Khan, and the esquires did the same thing and beat the baby Tepegoz. The baby Tepegoz who was growing fast, clashing with Oghuz community, even not enough to be protected by Aruz Koca climbs the mountains and hijacks. Analysing ”Narcissistic personality disorder”which is materialized in the character of Tepegoz enables us to find out Old Turks’ collective unconscious and the relation between parent and child. Moreover, reanalysing the text of popular culture by means of modern psychology is essential in order to acquire Turkish culture even better in terms of developing new points of view .
Çocuk, yaşadığı çevreyle kopmaz bağları olan sosyal bir varlıktır. Bu sosyal varlığın karakter kazanımında en büyük görev ise topluma düşmektedir. Çünkü, toplum, kendi bünyesinde, bireylerini en iyi şekilde yetiştirecek değerlere sahip olan tek kurumdur. Bu çalışmamızda, Dede Korkut Hikâyeleri arasında yer alan “Basat Depegözi Öldürdigi Boyı Beyan Eder” isimli hikâyede Tepegöz karakterinde somutlaştırılan Narsisistik kişilik bozukluğunu ele aldık. Kişilik bozuklukları üzerinde yapılan araştırmalarda bu tür bozuklukların temelinde “nesne kaybı” nın yattığı görülmüştür. Özellikle preödipal dönemdeki baba veya anne imagosu ile ilişkili eksiklikler ya da bunların “yokluğu” çocuğun bilinçaltında ciddi hasarlar yaratmaktadır. Bebeklikteki narsisistik dengenin mükemm elliği daha sonra kişiliğini oluşturacak pek çok ruhsal durumdan daha önemlidir. Annenin çocuğun gereksinimlerine karşılık verebilme gücü, bozulmuş olan narsisistik dengenin yeniden kurulmasındaki örseleyici olabilecek gecikmeleri önler. İncelediğimiz hikâyede bebek Tepegöz, “annesizlik” neticesinde “örseleyici bir çocukluk” geçirmiştir. Her şeyden evvel çoban babası tarafından içinde getirildiği “yığanak”ta dövülmüĢtür. Bu yetmemiş gibi Oğuz’un diğer ileri gelenleri; Bayındır Han ve beyleri de aynı şeyi yapmışlar, çocuk Tepegöz’ü dövmüşlerdir. Aruz Koca tarafından korunmaya alınması dahi yeterli gelmemiş, çok hızlı büyüyen bebek Tepegöz, Oğuz topluluğuyla uyuşamamış, dağa çıkmış ve yol kesmiştir. Tepegöz karakterinde somutlaştırılan “narsisistik kişilik bozukluğu”nu ele almak bize, Eski Türklerin kolektif bilinçaltını, ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisini öğrenmede önemli bilgiler sağlamıştır. Ayrıca halk kültürüne ait metinlerin modern psikolojinin verileriyle yeniden ele alınması, Türk kültürünü daha iyi kavramak için bize yeni bakış açıları kazandırması yönünden de önemlidir.
