Prof. Atila Eralp: Good morning, we are sorry to start a little late. When I introduced Prof Halliday yesterday I tried to make the point that his research and publications focus on three major areas of international relations: international relations of the Middle East, international political theory and international dimensions of revolutions. During the presentation yesterday, he focused on international relations of the Middle East. Today he will focus on international political theory and the practise of international relations (IR) at the end of the Cold War. Prof. Fred Halliday: Thank you very much Prof. Eralp. I am going to give a very general talk today about the subject of IR, reflecting inevitably the way we teach it at LSE but also engaging with the broader development of the subject.
