Kktc turizm sektörünün performansı üzerine bir çalışma

Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti (KKTC) tanınmamıs bir ülke olarak ekonomik, sosyal, kültürel ve diğer açılardan dünyadan tecrit edilmektedir. Tanınmamıslık ve tecrit olgusunun adada en fazla hissedildiği sektörlerin basında ise turizm gelmektedir. Öncelikle, ülkeye dolaylı ulasım yabancı turistler açısından rekabet edebilirliği özellikle fiyat ve hizmet kalitesi açısından olumsuz etkilemektedir. Buna ilaveten, Yunan ve Rumların gerçek dısı olarak KKTC'yi turistler açısından güvensiz bir destinasyon olarak gösterme çabası da menfi etki yaratmaktadır. Ancak, bunlara karsın KKTC turizmi önemli gelisme kaydetmistir. Devamlı olarak yatak kapasitesini ve yüksek kalitede hizmet verme kapasitesi olan tesisleri artırma basarısı gösteren KKTC turizmi, düsen turist sayısına rağmen dünya turizm hareketinin aksine 2009'da turizm gelirlerini artırmıs ve 2011 yılında gerek turist sayısı gerekse doluluk oranı açısından en yüksek seviyeye ulasmıstır. Ayrıca, KKTC turizmi ülke istihdamındaki payını artırırken ödemeler dengesine en fazla katkı yapan ekonomik faaliyet olmaya devam etmektedir. Ancak, KKTC turizminin son yıllardaki basarısı göreceli olarak turist basına gelir, yatak basına gelir ve gelirlerdeki değisim yüzdesi kriterlerine göre değerlendirildiğinde geçmis yıllara oranla basarının düsük olduğu ortaya çıkmaktadır.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as an internationally unrecognized country is being subjected to isolation with respect to economic, social, cultural and other activities. Among these sectors, tourism is most affected by the unrecognized and isolated position of the country. First, the indirect access to the country has a negative impact on the competitiveness of the tourism sector in attracting foreign tourists, especially in terms of price and quality of service. In addition, the Greek Cypriots attempt to argue - contrary to the facts - that the TRNC is as an unsafe destination for tourists. Unfortunately, these allegations create a negative impact as well. Despite these negative aspects, especially in recent years the tourism sector of Northern Cyprus has achieved an enviable success: This sector is constantly improving its bed capacity and potential of providing high quality of services. Contrary to global trends in tourism, it managed to increase the net tourism revenues despite decreasing tourist numbers in 2009. In particular, peak levels of tourist arrivals and occupancy rates were reached in the year 2011. Furthermore, the sectoral contribution to employment started to increase on a yearly basis while it plays the primary economic role in the balance of payments of the TRNC. However, the recent success of tourism is found to be below the previous years when relative indicators such as revenue per tourist, revenue per bed and percentage change in revenues are taken into account.
