Işgal karanliğinda bir isyan alevi: süleyman nazif’in pierre loti hitâbe’si

Döneminin en büyük hatiplerinden, en sert ve âteşîn yazarlarından birisi olan Süleyman Nazif, Mütareke dönemi İstanbul’unda Türk milletinin hukukunu savunan cesur yazılara imza atmıştır. İşgal sonrasında yayımladığı “Kara Bir Gün” isimli yazısıyla, işgal ordularını kızdırdığı kadar okuyucularını coşturmuş olan Nazif, 23 Ocak 1920 Cuma günü verdiği meşhur Pierre Loti Konferansı’yla da dönemin fikir ve his hayatında unutulmaz bir etki yaratmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Pierre Loti Cemiyeti’nin teşekkülü ve tertip edilen Pierre Loti Günü’nün ayrıntıları verilmiş, daha önce tam metni yeni harflerle yayımlanmamış olan ve Hitâbe ismini taşıyan konferans, matbuattaki akisleriyle beraber, tam metin olarak yeni harflere aktarılmış, ayrıca bu konuşma dolayısıyla gerçekleşen Süleyman Nazif-Pierre Loti mektuplaşması söz konusu edilmiştir.

Süleyman Nazif, one of the greatest speakers and the most enthusiastic, the sternest writers of his time, wrote brave articles and papers defending the rights of Turkish nation in Istanbul in the time of armistice. In his paper named “Kara Bir Gün” [A Dark Day] published after the invasion, he annoyed the armies of occupation as well as he ecstasized his readers. He also had a magnificent impact on the intellectual life and the perceptions of that period by his famous speech made in Pierre Loti Conference held on 23rd January, 1920. In this paper, the details about the establishment of Pierre Loti Society and Pierre Loti Day organized are studied; the conference named Hitabe [Oration] which has been published partly - not wholly - with Latin alphabet before is translated into Turkish - Latinized - as the full text together with its reflections in the press. Moreover, the letters (correspondence) between Süleyman Nazif and Pierre Loti by the means of this conference are discussed.
