The concept of human beings occupies an important place the thematic structure of short stories and novels of Ahmet Midhat Efendi, the first great novelist of modern Turkish literature. One can easily see Ahmet Mithat’s thoughts and perceptions on humanity manifested in his depiction of human beings in his short stories and novels show. The author’s concept of human can been treated in two main frames: The characteristics of types created in his novels and short stories and the author’s own commentaries and statements expressed by fictional characters about human beings.
