The importance of Max Frisch‟s Tagebuch 1946-1949 (Diary 1946-1949) published in 1950, stems from the fact that it reveals the ideas of the writer on various matters. Frisch‟s diary is like his notebook, in which he takes notes of the ideas on various subjects, the very ideas that he will in the future write about. Frisch sees himself as a Zeitgenosse and aims directly to the reader, he seeks for his reader, he wishes for his reader to enter into a dialogue with what he reads. In this process the writer has the sole role of being a guide, putting forth the possibilities. It is up to the reader to find the answers. Especially at this point his Tagebuch 1946-1949 is actually a guide for the reader. The concepts that are mentioned in Tagebuch 1946-1949 like "time", "prejudice", "fixed images", or "empitied language" of media age and the resulting prejudices are the main issues that Frisch deals with. In this aspect Tagebuch 1946-1949 has a key role for the Frisch scholars in analysing his novels and plays.
