Özet Türkçe :

In his writing at various phases of his life Franz Kafka describes to his readers the consciousness of his body either as a sickness metaphor or his frailness. In "Ein Landartzt" and "Die Verwandlung" the wound is a symbol of the sickness metaphor. These two works were written before Kafka contracted tuberculosis which he named "Lungenwunde" after he became afflicted with the disease. This article will discuss how Kafka perceived his illness as reflected in his diaries and letters, raising the following questions: Is the illness seen in his writing an extention of his personal problems, a metaphor constructed at the personal level? Is it a metaphor with historical and cultural references, questioning cultural norms?
