The purpose of this study was to adapt the Turkish version of GSE scale developed by Schwarzer & Jerusalem (1995) which were adapted into more than twenty five languages. The study conducted on a total of 693 students from three Universities. The GSE translated into Turkish using translation-back translation method. For the construct validity, principal components analysis with varimax rotation was used. As a result of the factor analysis, a two-factor structure with eigenvalues higher than 1 emerged. In order to check criterion validity of GSE, Coping with Stress Scale and Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale were used. Alpha internal consistencies for the two factors were found between .79 and .63 respectively. The overall alpha internal consistency of the GSE was found .83. Test-retest reliability scales was found to be (r=.80, p<.001). These results led the author to consider that the Turkish version of the GSE scale valid and reliable. Findings indicated that GSE scores significantly differ regarding gender and age.
