This study was conducted to determine the level of Turkish Language Teacher Candidates' knowledge and skills of written expression. The research is a descriptive field research. The EVREN of the study is comprised of the last class university students of Turkish Department of Education and the sample of the study is comprised of 570 students selected randomly from 8 universities. The study aiming at determining whether the Turkish Language Teacher Candidates (TLTC) are educated enough in terms of getting writing skills, one of the four main skills of language consists of two phases. In the first phase it was tried to determine the TLT Candidates' field knowledge of written expression through '' field knowledge test of written expression'. Candidates' proficiency of written expression was tried to be determined in the second phase of the study. For this, candidates did written expression activity. As a scale 'Writing Assessment' developed taking the views of experts was used to determine the level of TLT candidates. As a result of the evaluation, candidates showed success of 76 % in the field of written expression and in the level of written expression skills 60 %. These rates show us that the future teachers of Turkish do not have the expected proficiency in terms of writing skills.
