General Principles

The Journal of Happiness and Well-Being is a journal that publishes theoretical, empirical, quantitative and qualitative research relating to positive psychology. The aim of the journal is to encourage applied and pragmatic critical analysis of issues relating to happiness and well-being.

Subject coverage of the journal includes, but is not limited to:

The journal is published twice a year, in January and July. It welcomes articles by scientists from every institution and nation.

Manuscripts should be written in English or Turkish.

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. The Journal of Happiness and Well-Being retains copyright to articles that are approved for publication. For papers approved for publication by the Editorial Board, no payment is required from the author nor is any copyright fee payable.

All papers submitted are first reviewed by the Editorial Board to check whether they are appropriate for the journal’s readership and in keeping with the editorial policy and aims of the journal. Following this first review, the paper is sent to at least two anonymous referees for blind review. All papers submitted to the journal must therefore conform to the requirements of the Instructions to Authors for an appropriate blind review.

The Journal of Happiness and Well-Being advises that the standard time to review a submitted article is approximately a 3 month period. There is no fee for submission.

Instructions to Authors

The title page should contain the full names, institutional affiliation, country, e-mail address/es, contact numbers of the author/s.

Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.). Typing instructions and instructions on preparing tables, figures, references, metrics, and abstracts appear in the Manual.

All manuscripts must be double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12).

The length of articles, excluding appendices and references, should not exceed 8000 words (approximately 25 pages). Longer articles of academic importance and topical interest may, however, be considered.

The title of the article must be written in font size 12. The title must be short and relevant to the topic. The title must not exceed 12 words in the language in which the manuscript is published.

Each article should include an informative, comprehensive abstract of 200 to 250 words. The abstract should be followed immediately by the Key Words (maximum 5) used in the article.

If the manuscript is written in Turkish, the extended abstract must be in English. The manuscript must include an abstract comprising of 750-1000 words following the 'References' section.
