Examination of the relations between the children and the mothers who have six-year old children

Parents, who are responsible from care and education of their children, are the fundamental people in the development of the individuals. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the children and the mothers who have six-year old children in terms of various variables. As the sample group, 134 mothers who have six-year old children attending to Pre-School institutions were included in the study. Parental Acceptance – Rejection Questionnaire - Mother Form, PARQ, which was developed by Rohner, Savedro and Granum and applied to Turkey by Angel (1993) was used in order to determine the mother-child relations. Distribution of frequency and percentage has been shown in the analysis of the data, t-test and ANOVA have been applied and Scheffe test have been used in the determination of the source of the significant difference. In conclusion, it has been found in our study that; mother-child relations were not affected significantly by the variables such as; genders of the children and presence of other individuals at home, on the other hand, it has been found that mother-child relations were affected significantly by the variables such as; birth order of the children, number of siblings and age, educational background and occupation of the mother (P<.05). It has been determined that total PARQ scores of the mothers who have an only child, their six-year old children was born first, graduated from university and work in a professional occupation are higher than the scores of the other mothers and it has also been found that the relations these mothers with children more unhealthy.

Çocukların gelişiminde birinci derecede önemli bireyler, onların bakım ve eğitiminden sorumlu olan anne ve babalardır. Bu çalışmada, altı yaşında çocuğa sahip olan annelerin çocukları ile ilişkilerini çeşitli değişkenler açısından incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada, okul öncesi eğitim kurumuna devam eden ve altı yaşında çocuğa sahip olan 134 anne örneklem olarak alınmıştır. Anne-çocuk ilişkilerini belirlemek amacıyla Rohner, Savedro ve Granum tarafından geliştirilen, Angel ve Erkman (1993) tarafından Türkiye'ye uyarlaması yapılan Aile Çocuk İlişkileri Ölçeği Anne Formu (Parental Accoptance – Rejection Questionnaire - Mother Form, PARQ) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde frekans ve yüzde dağılımları verilmiş, t-Testi ve ANOVA yapılmış, anlamlı farkın kaynağının belirlenmesinde Scheffe testinden yararlanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak; annelerin çocukları ile ilişkilerinin, çocukların cinsiyeti, evde birlikte yaşanılan diğer bireylerin varlığı gibi değişkenlerden anlamlı ölçüde etkilenmediği; çocuğun doğuş sırası, kardeş sayısı, annenin yaşı, öğrenim durumu ve mesleği değişkenlerinden ise anlamlı ölçüde etkilendiği (P<.05) bulunmuştur. Tek çocuğa sahip ve altı yaşındaki çocuğu ilk sırada doğan, üniversite mezunu ve profesyonel bir meslek grubunda çalışan annelerin PARQ toplam puanlarının diğer annelerin puanından daha yüksek olduğu, bu annelerin çocukları ile ilişkilerinin daha sağlıksız olduğu belirlenmiştir
