Türkiye’nin türk cumhuriyetleriyle sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik ilişkilerini gösteren haritaların kullanılabilirlik düzeyi konusunda bir araştırma

Haritalar; insanlık tarihinin başından bu yana, insanın yaşadığı çevreyi dolayısıyla yeryüzünü tanıma çabalarının ürünüdür. Sosyal Bilgiler konularının işlenmesinde kullanılan en önemli araçlardan biri de haritalardır. Sosyal Bilgiler konularının her biri için ayrı bir harita yapılabilir. Araştırmada Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenleri ve öğrencilerinin görüşlerine/cevaplarına göre, Türkiye'nin Türk Cumhuriyetleriyle sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik ilişkilerini gösteren haritaların kullanılabilirlik düzeyi belirlenmiştir. Araştırma örneklemini random yöntemiyle seçilmiş öğretmen (222 kişi) ve öğrenciler (825 kişi) oluşturmuştur. Öğretmenler için likert tipi ölçek, öğrenciler için başarı testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları; İlköğretim 7. Sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersi Yurdumuzun Komşuları ve Türk Dünyası ünitesinin "Türkiye'nin Türk Cumhuriyetleriyle Sosyal, Kültürel ve Ekonomik İlişkilerini Açıklayabilme" amacında geçen haritaların yeterince kullanılmadığını, ders kitaplarında haritaların öğretim programına, öğrencilerin bilişsel düzeylerine ve harita çizim ilkelerine göre verilmediğini, bu konuda herhangi bir model ve anlayışın bulunmadığını göstermiştir. Araştırma sonunda tespit edilen sorunlara dayalı olarak araştırmacı tarafından ortaya konulan önerilere yer verilmiştir.

Since the beginning of human history, maps have been the products of human efforts that attempt to know the environment they are living in and therefore the earth they are on. One of the most significant instruments used in teaching of social studies subjects is maps. A separate map can be produced for each subject of social studies. Based on the opinions/answers given by social studies teachers and students, this research determines the usability of such maps that demonstrate the social, cultural and economic relations between Turkey and the other Turkish Republics. This research includes teachers (n=222) and students (n=825) selected in a randomized way. The research uses likert type survey for teachers and achievement test for students. The results of the survey show that the maps in the unit of "The Neighbours of Our Country and Turkic World" were not sufficiently used; in the course books the maps were not given by considering cognitive level of students, the principle of map drawing and the curriculum. Besides, there weren't any models or concepts on this topic. Lastly, according to the results of the survey new suggestions were added by the researcher.
