Arap dilinde îcâz’ın tarihi seyri ve önemi

Belâğat ilminin meânî tabirlerinden olan îcâz lügatte, az sözle çok şey anlatmak, veya sözü kısa kesmek manalarına gelir. Belâğat ilminde ise, kelimelerin manayı ifade edecek ölçüden az olmasıdır.Îcâz, Câhiliyye döneminde ortaya çıkmış İslam'ın ilk yıllarında belirgin bir şekilde kullanılmış ve Abbasi döneminde ise kavramlaşarak edebiyat sahasında konu olarak işlenmeye başlanmıştır. Özellikle Câhiliyye döneminde toplumun sosyal ve edebî durumunu belirten bir kavram olan îcâz, Îcâz-ı kasr ve Îcâz-ı hazf diye ikiye ayrılmaktadır.

Brachylogy which is one of the meanings of Eloquence means to express something with few words. In science of Eloquence it means to express the word with few words. Brachylogy appeared during Pre-Islamic period (Jahiliyya), it was used during the first years of the Islam and was conceptualised during the period of Abbasid and was used as a subject in the field of literature. Brachylogy that was a notion which was used during Pre-Islamic period (Jahiliyya) and that explains the social and literary situation is divided into two groups. One of them is Brachylogy of restriction and Brachylogy of elision.
