Protagoras’ın dini ve tanrısal konular hakkındaki görüşleri

Sokrates öncesi Yunan düşüncesinde tanrısal konular hakkındaki tasavvurlar ve evren anlayışlarına ilişkin değerlendirmeler, Ksenophanes'in açtığı ikili hat üzerinden gerçekleşmiştir. Ksenophanes'in, konuya yaklaşımının birinci yanı insan bilmesinin sınırlı oluşuyken ikinci yanı, özellikle dini ve tanrısal hakikatlerin bu bilmenin sınırlılığından dolayı bilinemeyeceği düşüncesidir. Ksenophanes'in getirmiş olduğu eleştirel yaklaşımı tutarlı bir biçimde devam ettirdiğini düşündüğümüz Protagoras'ın görüşleri tanrısal konular hakkında hiç bir şekilde konuşulmaması gerektiği anlayışını temel almaktadır.

Interpretations about conceiving the divine subject and the conception of the universe in Pre-Socratic philosophy, follows the footsteps of Xenophanes' specific dual approach to these problems. Two different but not separate aspects can be put forward about Xenophanes' approach to the subject. On the one hand it can be said that the human knowledge has its own limits and on the other hand, the limited horizon of human knowledge brings us the fact that the religious and divine truths can never be a subject matter for human knowledge. As a consistent follower of Xenophanes' perspective of criticism, Protagoras' thoughts are also based on the necessity of remaining silence about these spiritual issues.
