Internet ve eğitim

Geçmişte, eğitimde teknoloji kullanımına sürekli şüpheyle bakan ve teknolojiyi şu ana kadar çeşitli nedenlerden ötürü öğretim metotlarına dâhil etmeyen eğitimciler, son yıllarda eğitimde bilgisayar uygulamalarına destek vermektedirler. Çok ümit verici bulunan bu yeni uygulamanın da pek çok yeni sorunu beraberinde getireceği maalesef göz ardı edilmektedir. Bu yeni uygulamanın adı internettir. Günümüzde artık her kesimden insan, eğer internet pek çok öğretmenin ve örencinin kullanımına sunulabilirse, dünyanın sınıfa getirilebileceği görüşünü savunmaktadır. Bu durumun, öğrencileri daha bilgili ve daha güçlü hale getireceği, çocuklar ve bilgi arasında yeni bir ilişki kurarak onların problem çözme yeteneklerini arttıracağı savunulmaktadır. Ancak internet, ne kadar heyecan verici olursa olsun ve hangi ülkede olursa olsun, eğitim sistemlerinin ve toplumun şu an içinde bulunduğu sosyal problemlere ve düzensizliğe bir çözüm oluşturamayacaktır. Maalesef pek çok eğitimci, eğitimle ilgili yayıncılar ve özellikle medya bir kez daha toplumu bilgi süper otoyolu'nun eğitime faydalar konusundaki aşırı iyimser sözleriyle bir hayal kırıklığına ve gerçekleri görememeye sürüklemektedir. Bu makalede, internet ve eğitim konusundaki problemler ülkemizle ilgili bazı noktalara değinilerek ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır.

Educators, who did not integrate technology into their teaching methods with various reasons and who were skeptical about the use of technology in education in the past, have become very supportive about the computer applications in education in recent years. However, it has been underestimated that the very promising new applications might also cause some new problems. This new application in education is known as the internet. Today people from various backgrounds have been advocating that if the internet is used in classes, in a sense, the world has been brought into the classes and thus the students will become more informed and effective and this will create a new type of relationship between the learners and knowledge, which in return will increase their problem-solving skills.However, internet, no matter how exciting it is and in which part of the world it is used, cannot solve the social problems and disorder of education systems and the societies. Unfortunately, many educators, education-related publishers and specifically popular media once more have been dragging the societies into a possible disappointment by creating a very optimistic atmosphere about the benefits of this so called information super highway .
