Açık alanlarda heykel-çevre ilişkisi ve tasarımı

Tarih boyunca heykel farklı amaçlarla oluşturulmuş, tarihin hemen her döneminde açık alanda farklı biçimlerde yer almıştır. Bir hacim sanatı olan heykel, açık alana yerleştirildiğinde önemli işlevler üstlenmektedir. Özellikle kentsel mekanlarda görsel duyum zenginliği oluşturma, insanları bir araya getirerek kaynaştırma, işaretleme, yönlendirme gibi işlevlerle heykel, kentsel yaşam kalitesine katkıda bulunmaktadır. Açık alanda, özellikle kamusal alanda yer alan heykelin kendisinden beklenen işlevleri yerine getirebilmesi için, bir takım ilkeler doğrultusunda tasarlanıp yerleştirilmesi gerekmektedir. Kentsel tasarımda da belirleyici olan bu ilkeler; birlik, oran, ölçek, uyum, denge ve simetri, ritm, zıtlık gibi ilkelerdir. Bu ilkeler heykelin çevresi ile olan fiziksel ve toplumsal ilişkilerinde ortaya çıkmakta ve tasarım sürecini yönlendirmektedir. Heykel açık alanda sergilendiğinde bir takım yeni sorunlarla karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. Genel olarak çevreye uyum konusu ile ilgili olan bu sorunların çözümünde, heykeltıraş çoğu zaman sunulmuş bir çevreye göre tasarım yapmak durumunda kalmaktadır. Kimi zaman heykel tasarlanırken bu çevre bile göz ardı edilebilmektedir. Oysa başarılı kentsel mekanların oluşumu için hem heykelin çevre ile olan ilişkileri tasarım ilkeleri çerçevesinde ele alınmalı, hem de heykelin tasarım süreci kentsel tasarım süreci ile iç içe olmalıdır. Böylece heykeltıraş başından beri farklı meslek disiplinleri ile birlikte çalışacak ve mekana en uygun yapıtı oluşturacaktır.

The sculpture has been constituted for different goals throughout the history and situated in open space in different forms almost in all terms of history. Sculpture, which is a volume art has important functions when placed in an open space. Especially in urban spaces, the sculpture, assist in urban life quality with the functions such as constituting visual sense richness, joining people with each other, signing, directing. In an open space, especially in a public space the sculpture must be designed on the direction of some principles to perform the functions expected from it.These principles which also defines urban design; are the principles such as unity, proportion, scale, harmony, balance and symmetry, rhytm, contrast. These principles occurs in the physical and social relations of the sculpture with their environments and directs designing. When the sculpture displays in an open space it faces some new problems. In solving these problems which are generally about adaptation to the environment, for the sculptor it is inevitable to design with respect to the environment that is presented. Sometimes when the sculpture is designed, even this environment can be ignored. However for forming succesful urban spaces, either the physical and social relations of the sculpture with the environment must be considered in the context of design principles, or its design process must be connected with urban design. So, the sculpor will work together with different disciplines and constitute the most harmonious work for the place.
