Abdülhak hâmid’in dilinden alt-kültür eleştirisi

Sanatçının, çağının tanığı olduğu görüşü genelde kabul gören bir önermedir. Daha çok roman ve hikâye gibi anlatı türü yazarları için geçerli olan bu görüş, bazen toplum meselelerini şiirine taşıyan şairler için de düşünülebilir. Abdülhak Hâmit’in “Sokaklarımızda” adlı şiiri de yazıldığı döneme tanıklık eden bir mahiyet taşıyor. Şiir, okuru 1920’li yılların İstanbul’una bir yolculuğa çıkartıyor. Savaş ve işgal sonrasında bu kentteki toplum düzeninde görülen kimi alt-üst oluşlar şair (Hâmit)i rahatsız eder. Belediyenin yetki ve sorumluluğuna giren meselelerden ötürü dönemin şehremini (belediye başkanı) Dr. Emin Erkul’a hitaben yazılan bu şiir, cemiyet meselelerine mesafeli bir edebi türe konu olması bakımından dikkate şayandır.

The suggestion that the artist is the witness of his own era is a widely accepted hypothesis. This suggestion, which is mostly valid for the writers of such narratives as novel and story, can sometimes be made for the poets who communicate the issues of the society in their poems. The poem “In Our Streets (Sokaklarımızda)” of Abdulhak Hamid that is dealt with in this paper takes the reader for a journey in Istanbul in 1920s. Some societal disorders in the aftermath of the war and the occupation disturb the poet (Hamid). This poem, which was written for the mayor of the time Dr. Emin Erkul responsible for governing the city, also worries the artist of a literary genre which is frosty for the societal issues. In the general flow of the poem, the poet first utters the troubles he has witnessed, and then proposes some solutions.
