The sociocultural perspective and language teaching

Psychology and language teaching has been interrelated. Psychology has always contributed to language teaching a great deal and the learning theories of many language teaching methods are based on the learning theories of psychology and what is more, some of them adopted the learning theories of psychology as their learning theories. In this article, the five perspectives of psychology; Biological Perspective, Learning perspective, Cognitive Perspective, Sociocultural Perspective, Psychodynamic Perspective were examined and various language teaching methods were evaluated in terms of these five perspectives. In the conclusion part, some suggestions were made for successful language teaching.

Psikoloji ve dil öğretimi birbiriyle daima iç içe olmuştur. Psikolojinin dil öğretimine katkıları çok olmuş, bir çok dil öğretim yöntemi öğrenme teorilerini psikolojinin öğrenme teorileri üzerine oturtmuş ve hatta aynen almıştır.Bu makalede psikolojinin temel beş perspektifi Biyolojik Perspektif, Öğrenme Perspektifi, Bilişsel Perspektif, Sosyokültürel perspektif, Psiko-dinamik perspektif incelenmiş, çeşitli yabancı dil öğretim metotları bu beş perspektiften bakılarak ele alınmıştır. Sonuç bölümünde ise yabancı dil öğretiminin başarılı olabilmesi için çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
