Seneca ve kötülük

Kötülük problemi, din felsefesinin en önemli problem alanlarından birisidir. Her şeyi bilen, her şeye gücü yeten ve mutlak anlamda iyi olan Tanrı anlayışına, evrendeki kötülüklerin varlığı gerekçe gösterilerek karşı çıkılmıştır. Buna göre, düşünce tarihinin başlangıcından bu güne Tanrının varlığına inanan filozoflar, evrendeki kötülüklerden hareketle ateizmi temellendirmeye çalışan düşünürlere karşı çeşitli argümanlar geliştirmişlerdir. Bu makalede kötülük problemi ana hatları ile ele alınacak ve bir Stoa filozofu olan Seneca’nın bu problemle ilgili düşünceleri incelenecektir.

The problem of evil has been one of the problematic issues of philosophy of religion. The conception of an omniscient, omnipotent and absolutely good God has been rejected for the reason that there are evils on the world. According to this, since the beginning of the history of thought, the philosophers believing in God have put forward some arguments against the thinkers trying to establish atheism depending on the evils on the world. In this study, the problem of evil will be investigated in general, and the thoughts of Seneca, a Stoan philosopher who put forward thoughts on the problem of evil will be explained.
