Rastlantısal müzik

1950’li yıllarda başta Amerika Birleşik Devletleri olmak üzere, Almanya, Avusturya, Fransa gibi çeşitli Batı ülkelerinde görülmeye başlayan “Rastlantısal Müzik” 20. yüzyılın başlarındaki müzikte tonal sisteme alternatif arayışlarının bir uzantısı olarak ortaya çıkmış bir müzik besteleme ve seslendirme tekniğidir. Amerikalı besteci John Cage bu tekniği uygulayanların başında gelir. Müziğin tamamen kontrolünün (serializm) tam zıttı rastlantısal müziktir. Bu müzik türünde besteciler müziklerinde şans, tesadüf öğelerine yer vermiş, grafik sembolleri kullanmışlardır. Şansa bağlı, rastlantı yöntemi ile bestelenen müziğin amacı saçmalık veya sanatı yıkmak değil, müziğe yeni bir renk ve eğlence katmaktır.

Chance music is a technique of composing and recording that emerged as a continuum for a search of alternatives to the tonal system in music in the beginning of 20th century and it first appeared in the USA in 1950’s and in some European countries like Germany, Austria, and France. The American composer, John Cage, is one of the leading people who applied this technique. Chance music is exactly the opposite of complete control of music (serialism). In this kind of music, the composers have given place to chance and coincidence and used graphic symbols. The aim of the music composed by the chance method is not to destroy art or to be nonsense but to add color and joy to music.
