Erzurum polis mektebi tarihçesi ve polis

Bu makalede, Erzurum Polis Mektebinin kurulduğu yıllar ile Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarında hizmet veren Polis Mekteplerine ait tarihi vesikalar ve kaynaklar incelenerek bu dönemlere ait verilen dersler, eğitim ve yönetim kadrosu hakkında bilgi verilmeye çalışılacaktır. Ayrıca çalışmanın kapsamı içerisinde, Polis Mekteplerinde verilen eğitimler de kaynakların ve tarihi vesikaların sağlamış olduğu imkânlarla geniş bir şekilde incelenecektir. Bu çalışmada, literatürdeki çalışmalar incelenmiş, Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü arşivleri, Atatürk Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi Tarihi Eserler Bölümü ve diğer kaynaklardan elde edilen belgeler, ders kitapları ve fotoğraflar "Doküman Analiz Tekniği" kullanılan bir bilimsel metot uygulanmıştır. Anlatılan konularla ilgili dokümanlar makalenin sonuna eklenmiştir.

This article examines historical documents and other sources spanning the century the Erzurum Police Academy has educated police officers. Through comparative and descriptive analyses, historical texts shed light on the police educational system, courses taught, instructional techniques, educational philosophy, and methods of management from the end of the Ottoman Empire through establishment of the Turkish Republic. Understanding the historical development of police education is essential for those who will alter current pedagogies to meet future Twenty-First Century needs. Therefore, this article, the first in a series, intends to provide detailed analysis of early police education in Turkey. In this study, along with the examination of related historical literature, unique historical evidence such as authentic photographs, scripts, letters, textbooks, diplomas and other sources obtained from auctions and borrowed from the Turkish National Police archives and from the rich library of Atatürk University are examined from a historical approach. Copies of some of the archival documents are appended. Follow-on articles will analyze other transformative periods leading to the current system of police education and outlooks for the future.
