Batı ve batılılaşma eleştirisi

Batı, bir coğrafyanın adı olmaktan ziyade, bir medeniyeti, daha açık bir ifadeyle çağdaş medeniyeti simgelemektedir. Batı medeniyeti akıl temeli üzerine kurulmuş ve maddî alanda ciddî ilerlemeler kaydetmiş bir medeniyettir. Süreklilik arz eden tarihteki bir kopuşun, Rönesans’la başlayan değişim sürecinin sonucudur, bir zihniyetin ürünüdür. Geri kalmış toplumlar dinamiklerini harekete geçirerek potansiyellerini açığa çıkarma kabiliyetini kaybetmiş olduklarından modernleşme ve çağdaşlaşma yolunda tek seçenekle karşı karşıyadırlar ki, o da Batılılaşmaktır. Bizdeki Batılılaşma hareketi de modernleşmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bir arzunun ve isteğin değil, zorunluluğun eseridir. Devlet endeksli, aydın-bürokrat sınıfın iradesiyle olduğundan, bir tür Batılılaştırma, toplumsal mühendislik projesiyle toplumu değiştirme çabasıdır. Bugünün şartları çerçevesinde Batılılaşmanın doğru ve iyi olduğunda hemen herkes aynı düşünceyi paylaşmaktadır. Bununla beraber geçmişte olduğu gibi günümüzde de yöntem, ciddî bir sorun olarak karşımızda durmaktadır. Yöntem sorunu aşıldığında Batılılaşmada doğru yola girilecek ve arzu edilen hedefe ulaşılacaktır.

The West is a civilization rather than a geographical terrain. In other words, it symbolizes the contemporary civilization. The Western civilization is established on the ground of reason, and is developed on material context. The West is the product of an isolation from the continuity of the history and a result of the sequence of a start with Renaissance. Since the under-developed societies lost their ability of making use of their dynamics and produce their potentials, they have to face the only selection of modernization and civilization which means Westernization. The purpose of our Westernization is, in fact, modernization. This is the necessity rather than a wish or self-invitation. Since it is supported by the State and the intellectual-burocratic class, as a representative of the State, it is a sort of an endeavor to change the society in the Western direction by an engineering project of the society. Almost everyone is sharing the same thought that the Westernization is right and good under the context of today’s circumstances. Thus, the method of Westernization stands as a serious problem today as it was in the past. When the methodology problem is solved, the right way of Westernization will be realized and the target will be reached.
