Türkiye’de üniversiteler gerek kuruluş biçimleri gerekse idari yapılanmalarıyla birbirinden farklı özellikler göstermektedir. Bu farklı özelliklere bağlı olarak üniversitelerde kurulmuş olan kütüphane yapıları da farklılık göstermektedir. Ancak, kütüphane yapıları farklılık gösterse de hizmet sunma amaçları aynıdır: Kullanıcının bilgi ihtiyacını temin etmek. Buna bağlı olarak her üniversite öğrencisinin bilgi edinme yaklaşım ve beklentisi de benzerlik göstermektedir. Bu çalışmada yer alan anket soruları kuruluş, işleyiş, idari ve iktisadi yapılanmaları birbirinden farklı olan
Marmara Üniversitesi, İstanbul Üniversitesi, İstanbul Kültür Üniversitesi, Okan Üniversitesi ve İstanbul 29 Mayıs Üniversitesi’nde eğitim gören üniversite öğrencilerine uygulanmıştır. Çalışmada, üniversite öğrencilerinin eğitim gördükleri okullarda faaliyet gösteren üniversite kütüphanelerinin mevcut durumunu ya da onların hizmet verme şeklini değerlendirmesinden ziyade, öğrencilerin bu kütüphaneleri kullanıp kullanmadıkları; kullanıyorlarsa hangi amaçla kullandıkları ve kullanmıyorlarsa nedenleri, üniversite kütüphanelerinin öğrencilerin eğitimine katkısı ve onların kütüphanelerden beklentileri irdelenecektir.

The universities in Turkey have various different characteristics, both from the point of view of their foundation and also in respect of their administrative structures. Due to these differencies, the structure of the libraries set up by these universities also show differencies from each other. Nevertheless, although the structures of the
various libraries display differencies, their aim of providing service is the same: to meet the information needs of their users. Moreover, all university students tend to have a similar approach to obtaining information and similar expectations. The questionnaire (survey questions) which form a part of this study were put to students of Marmara University, Istanbul University, Istanbul Kültür University, Okan University and Istanbul 29 Mayıs University, all of which have differencies with regard to foundation, daily running, management, administrative structure and
financial structure. The study, rather than focussing on the condition of the individual libraries of the universities at which the students are studying or the way in they provide services, will examine whether the students use the university libraries or not and, if they use them, for what purposes they use them and, if they
do not use them, the reasons why they do not use them, the contribution made by the university libraries to the students’ education and the expectations of the students themselves.
