The purpose of this study is to determine conceptual and operational skills of the numeric section students who bone for university exams. One-hundred twenty-five people who bone for university exams in Afyonkarahisar, Konya and Kayseri constitute the sample of the research. Ten open-ended tests which are made by Soylu and Aydın (2006) are carried out in the research. As a result of the fact that students’ papers are analyzed and the interviews which are done with students , it is observed the fact that students are more successful at questions which require operational information and they comprehend the questions all the better. In consequence of the study it is made suggestion that students compare with questions which contain more nihility.
