This research was carried out , having in mind the fact that the value of self-learning against knowledge and learning needs of individuals that increase rapidly nowadays is not taken into account in teacher training in college of education.The aim of the study is to examine the readiness of primary school teacher candidates - who are having four-year degree programs in college of education- to self-learning. Research working group consisted of 160 primary school teacher candidates who studied at Kazım Karabekir Faculty of Education,Atatürk University,in fall semester of 2011-2012 academic year. In this study,Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLRS) which was developed by Fisher,King ans tague (in 2001) was applied. The answers that teacher candidates gave to SDLRS were analyzed by the help of SPSS statistical package program.
