Cemil meriç ile türk modernleşmesine bir bakış

III. Selim'den bugüne Batılılaşma, Avrupalılaşma, Modernleşme vb. adlarla bir değişim süreci içinde olduğumuz kabul edilir. Bu değişim azımsanmayacak kadar uzun bir süreci kapsasa da ivme her zaman istikrar gösterememiş, dolayısı ile inişlerin, çıkışların, kırılmaların yaşanması kaçınılmaz olmuştur. Bugün hâlâ devam eden bu sürecin ne denli sağlıklı olduğunun yanıtı ise, illaki tüm süreci değerlendirmekle mümkündür. Cemil Meriç, bu süreci değerlendiren pek çok isimden sadece biri olmasına karşın, onu farklı kılan; kişiliği, yaşadıkları ve bu süreçte tablonun tamamını görebilmiş olması ile yaptığı değerlendirmelerle yalnız düne değil, bugüne ve yarına da ışık tutmasıdır. Hâlâ devam eden bu süreçte ne şekilde sağlıklı, sağlam bir tutum sergileyebileceğimizin cevabının sürecin öncesine bakmayı ve daha da önemlisi anlamayı gerekli kıldığı düşünülürse, Cemil Meriç'in gözünden bu değerlendirmenin önemi de kendiliğinden ortaya çıkar.

Although this change period covers a considerable amount of time, acceleration could not be stable all the time. So ups and downs and breakings in this period have been inevitable. The answer of whether the ongoing process is healthy or not is absolutely probable by evaluating the whole process. Although Cemil Meriç is only one of the names who evaluates this process, the point that makes him different from the others is that his character, his life, his ability to see the every point of the situation in this process and his illuminating not only the past but also today and tomorrow with his evaluations If it is thought that the answer of what kind of a healthy and strong attitude we will display on this still-ongoing process requires to look at, moreover to understand the previous project, the importance of this evaluation from Cemil MERİÇ's point of view appears automatically.
