Trakya Alt Bölgesi (Tekirdağ, Edirne, Kırklareli), toplam tarımsal üretim değerleri (TÜİK 2006 verilerine göre Türkiye toplam ayçiçeği üretiminin %64'ü, çeltik üretiminin %49,5'i ve buğday üretiminin %9,7 si Trakya Alt Bölgesi'nden karşılanmaktadır) doğal, kültürel kaynakları ve jeopolitik özellikleri (İstanbul-Marmara Bölgesi ve Avrupa'ya yakınlığı) nedeni ile ülke içinde stratejik bir öneme sahiptir. Alan; orman, kıyı, kumul, dağ, deniz, göl ve dere gibi farklı pek çok nadir ve hassas ekosistemi barındırmaktadır. Sahip olduğu özgün peyzaj değerleri ile de ekoturizm açısından ilgi çekici konumdadır. Bu amaçla çalışmada "Bölgenin ekoturizm gelişimi açısından sahip olduğu fırsatlar ve tehditler nelerdir? ve "Yerleşimlerde eko turizme temel olacak faaliyetler ve bu faaliyetleri etkileyen unsurlar nelerdir? Sorularına yanıt aranarak bölgenin ekoturizm gelişimi açısından olanakları saptanacaktır. Çalışma sonucunda Trakya Bölgesi'nde ekoturizme yönelik; bölgenin ekoturizm imajının yaratılması, ekoturizme yönelik tematik gelişim koridorlarının yaratılması, tıbbi ve aromatik bitkilerin agro-eko turizm kapsamında değerlendirilmesi ve tarımsal üretim potansiyelin ekoturizm aktiviteleri ile bütünleştirilmesi olmak üzere birbirini bütünleyen gelişme stratejileri oluşturularak paydaşların da görevlerinin belirtildiği bir eylem planı hazırlanmıştır. Böylelikle ekoturizmin geliştirilmesi ile birlikte bir taraftan yöre halkının sosyo-ekonomik kalkınması sağlanmış olacak, diğer taraftan da doğa koruma bilinci çerçevesinde doğal ve kültürel peyzaj değerleri de korunmuş olacaktır.

As a result, the creation of the image of the district's eco-tourism, ecotourism corridors for the creation of thematic development, medicinal and aromatic plants, agro-eco tourism and agricultural production under the evaluation of the potential eco-tourism activities and development strategies that are complementary to the integration of stakeholders in establishing the duties specified in prepared an action plan for ecotourism in Thrace District.
