Göstergebilimsel bir çözümleme: samuel richardson’ın pamela’sı

Bu çalışma, Samuel Richardson’ın İngiliz edebiyatının ilk romanlarından sayılan Pamela (1740) adlı romanının göstergebilimsel açıdan incelenmesini içermektedir. Metnin derin anlamını yüzeye çıkarabilmek için, gösteren ve gösterilen arasındaki ilişkileri farklı bakış açıları ile ortaya koymak amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışmada ilk olarak, roman eyleme göre iki ana kesite ve uzamsal, zamansal ve eylemsel değişimlere göre bu iki ana kesitin alt kesitlerine ayrılmıştır. İkinci olarak, temel anlamsal yapıdaki karşıtlıklar değerlendirilmiştir. Üçüncü aşamada, eyleyenlerin farklı bakış açıları ortaya konulmuştur. Dördüncü aşamada, anlatı izlencesinin uzam ve zaman boyutları incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, on sekizinci yüzyılda yazılan bu eserin kendi dönemindeki gösteren-gösterilen ilişkisi ile çağdaş dünyadaki gösteren-gösterilen ilişkisi arasındaki karşıtlık göstergebilimsel bir inceleme ile ortaya konulmuştur.

This study includes the analysis of Samuel Richardson’s Pamela (1740), which is accepted as one of the first novels of English literature, in terms of semiotics. To reach the deep meaning of the text, it is aimed to present the relationships between the signifier and the signified from different points of view. In this study, firstly, the novel is sectionalized into two main sections according to the action and into subsections of those two main sections according to changes in the dimensions of space-time-action. Secondly, the contradictions in basic semantic structure are evaluated. In the third phase the different points of view of the actants, in the fourth phase the spacio-temporal dimensions of the narrative programme are examined. Consequently, the contradiction between the two kinds of reception of the signifier-signified relationship of this work (one in the 18th century, the other in the contemporary period) is presented by a semiotic analysis.
