Ayn rand’ın felsefesinde sanatın neliği ve psiko-epistemik işlevi

Düşünerek eylemde bulunmak yaşamasının önkoşulu olduğu için, insan felsefeye ihtiyaç duyar. Metafizik, epistemoloji, etik ve estetik felsefenin temel disiplinleridir. Ruhun teknolojisi olan sanat, metafizik, epistemoloji ve etiğin ürünüdür. Sanat, gerçekliğin, bir sanatkârın metafizik değer yargılarına göre seçici bir tarzda yeniden yaratılmasıdır. Sanat, metafiziğin somutlaştırılmasıdır. Sanat, insanın kavramlarını bilincinin algısal düzeyine getirerek bu kavramların, algılar gibi doğrudan anlaşılmasını sağlar. Bu da, sanatın psiko-epistemik işlevidir ve sanatın insan hayatındaki önemi de bu işlevinden kaynaklanır. Sanatın temel amacı öğretmek değil göstermektir. Bir başka ifadeyle insanın doğasını ve evrendeki yerini temsil eden somutlaştırılmış bir imajı insanın karşısına koymaktır.

Human being needs philosophy because thinking practice precondition of his survival. Metaphysics, epistemology, ethics and esthetic are fundamental disciplines of philosophy. Art that is technology of soul is a production of metaphysics, epistemology and ethics. Art is a selective re-creation of reality according to an artist’s metaphysical value-judgments. Art is a concretization of metaphysics. Art brings man’s concepts to the perceptual level of his consciousness and allows him to grasp them directly, as if they were percepts. This is the psycho-epistemic function of art and the importance of art in man’s life is based on this function. The basic purpose of art is not to teach, but to show. In other words it is to hold up to man a concretized image of his nature and his place in the universe.
