Yabanci dil öğretiminde alternatif bir okul modeli

Öğrenme insanoğlunun yaşamındaki en önemli değerlerden biridir. Birey

öğrenme isteğini sürekli bünyesinde barındırır. Her türlü bilgiye merak duyar, en

karmaşık olguları dahi anlamlandırmaya, öğrenme çalışır. Formal öğretim söz

konusu olduğunda bu isteğin azalmaya başladığı hatta zaman zaman bazı

disiplinlerde tamamen yok olduğu gözlemlenmektedir.

Biz bu çalışmamızda informal düzeyde bireyin sergilediği öğrenme isteğini

formal düzeyde yabancı dil öğretiminde de devam ettirmesini sağlayacak mevcut

okul sistemine karşıt alternatif bir okul modeli projesi oluşturmayı hedefledik.

Amacımız kamu okullarındaki öğretimi küçümsemek, göz ardı etmek değildir.

Aksine bütün boyutlarıyla yabancı dil öğretimini nasıl daha başarılı bir konuma

getirebiliriz sorusunun cevabını bulabilmek, bu alanda var olan öğrenme

olumsuzluklarını saptayabilmek ve çözüm önerileri üretebilmektir. Araştırma

evrenine yabancı dil eğitimi bölümü öğrencilerinden gönüllü olanları dahil ettik.

Öğrencilere bir ay süre vererek ülkemizde kamu okullarında yabancı dil öğretimini

çeşitli boyutlarıyla sorgulayacakları, öneriler üretecekleri bir proje çalışması

hazırlamalarını istedik. Elde ettiğimiz verileri içerik analizi yöntemiyle

çözümledik. Öğrencilerin düşüncelerinden kamu okullarında yabancı dil öğretim

sorunlarının çoğunlukla sosyolinguistik ve psikolinguistik nitelikte olduğunu

saptamaktayız. Çözüm önerilerinden bazılarının ütopik olduğu veya kısa vadede

gerçekleştirilmesinin mümkün olmayacağı gözükse de öğretim düzeyinde farklı

uygulamalarla özellikle sözlü anlama ve anlatım boyutunda mevcut sistemin

eksiklikleri giderilerek öğretimde daha başarılı sonuçlar elde edilebilir.

Learning is one of the most important values in the life of human beings.

Being curious about all kinds of information, individual desires to learn

continuously and tries to make sense of even the most complex cases. When it

comes to formal education, it is observed that this request started to decline,

moreover disappeared completely from time to time in some disciplines.

In this study, we aimed to create an alternative school model opposed to

the current school system that will keep the individual's willingness to learn not

only informally but also formally in foreign language teaching. Our aim is not

depreciate or ignore the teaching in public schools. Conversely our project is to

find the response of the question « How can we deliver a foreign language teaching

with all aspects more successfully” and to determine learning drawbacks existing

in this field and to generate solutions. Volunteer students in the department of

foreign language education compose the universe of research.We demand them to

prepare a project in which they will interrogate the foreign language teaching in

public schools in our country from the various aspects, and they will offer

recommendations by giving them one-month period. We analyzed the data

obtained with the content analysis method.

We determine from students' thoughts that foreign language teaching

problems in public schools are often qualified sociolinguistic and psycholinguistic.

Although it seems some of the proposals are utopian and will not be possible to

realize in the short term, more successful results can be achieved by eliminating

deficiencies of the current system especially at the level of oral comprehension and

expression thorough different applications in teaching.
