Art education aims the students not only to acquire some skills in the field of application, but also to develop their critical thinking and analysing skills, and to produce individuals who are capable of aesthetic perception and taste. Today the visuality which dominates all falks of life, plays an affective role for the choices of the individuals as to which TV channel to watch and which product to buy. In societies formed up of individuals with high levels of aesthetic perception and taste; an aesthetic point of view can be seen from city planning to natural environment, in the design of the daily objects, and in the street advertisements. Because of this reason, one of the ways of living in a satisfactory environment in terms of aesthetics is thought as the development of the societies’ level of taste. In this study it is suggested that placing the art criticism discipline into the related teaching programmes will contribute to the development of the students’ aesthetic perception and taste.
