Cemal Resit Rey, müzik sanatına ve müzik egitimine yaptıgı üst düzey katkılarla çok
yönlü, üretken ve çalıskan bir sahsiyet olarak dikkat çekmistir. Uluslararası bir müzik kariyeri bulunan sanatçımız, besteci, egitimci, orkestra sefi ve yönetici gibi vasıflara sahip olan, yaptıgı her isi en üst düzeyde sorumluluk duygusu ve basarı ile yürütmüs, incelemeye ve arastırmaya deger bir kisiliktir. Cemal Resit Rey, Cumhuriyet’in ilanından iki ay önce Paris Konservatuvarı’ndan mezun olmus ve henüz 19 yasındayken,
stanbul Belediyesi Darülelhan’a (ilk konservatuvar) hoca olarak çagrılmıstır. Avrupa’da onu büyük bir kariyer beklerken, hocalarının tüm engellemelerine ragmen,
stanbul’a dönerek ülkesine hizmet etmeyi tercih eden Rey, bu kararı ile vatanına olan baglılıgını da göstermistir. Türkiye’de klasik müzik çalısmalarına öncülük eden sanatçımız, çesitli orkestralar kurup, bunları yurt içindeki ve dısındaki konserlerde yönetmis, çok sayıda ögrenci yetistirmis, bir yandan klasik müzigi ülkemizde yaymaya çalısmıs, diger yandan da çesitli operalar ve operetler yazarak, tiyatro dünyasına kıymetli eserler kazandırmıstır. Rey, ülkemizde müzik sanatına önemli hizmetleri bulunan Flarmoni Dernegi’nin kurulusunda büyük çaba göstermis ve baskanlıgını yapmıstır. Ayrıca, Türkiye’de ilk olarak “Yaylılar Orkestrası”nı kurmus ve bu orkestrayı yönetmistir. “Türk Besleri” diye adlandırılan besteciler kusagının ilk temsilcisi olan Cemal Resit Rey, yaptıgı bestelerle de sanat çevrelerince önemli begeni kazanan ve müzik sanatçıları
tarafından aranan bir kisi olmustur. Rey ayrıca, çok sayıda orkestra yapıtları, konçertolar, konçertant parçalar, oda müzikleri, piyano, san ve piyano, san ve orkestra, koro eserleri, marslar ve sahne müzikleri besteleyerek müzik alanına önemli katkılar saglamıstır. Türk halk müzigine verdigi deger ve besteledigi türküler de bestecimizin dikkat çeken diger özelliklerindendir. Bu arastırmada, betimsel arastırma yöntem ve teknikleri kullanılmıs ve çok yönlü çalısmalarıyla dikkat çeken degerli sanatçı ve egitimci, Cemal Resit Rey’le ilgili elde edilen bulgular degerlendirilip yorumlanmıstır.

Cemal Resit REY had been the centre of attraction with his productivity, hard work
and great contribution to the both art of music and music training. He absolutely worth for being the subject of a research for his international music career, his titles of composer, tutor, conductor, director and his great sense of responsibility and success in every single task he took. Cemal Resit REY had graduated from the Conservatory of Paris just two months before the foundation of Turkish Republic and only his age of 19, he had been invited to the first conservatory, Darülelhan, of Istanbul Municipality as an instructor. Although the bright future ahead of him in Europe and all the efforts of his teachers, he chose to come back to Istanbul
and serve for his country and he showed his love and his bond to his roots and country. He had lead several works of classical music in Turkey, founded various orchestras, conducted them at the national and international concerts, trained many students, written various precious operas and operettas contributing to world of theatre besides promoting the classical music in our country. REY had played a great role in the foundation process of Association of Philharmonic which has been giving great support to the art of music in our country and lead it for a period of time. Moreover, first time in Turkey he founded “Orchestra of Strings” and conducted it.
Cemal Resit REY as the first representative of a generation of composers known as
“Turkish Fives” received a great appreciation and attraction from art society and music artists with his compositions. Furthermore, with his pieces of orchestra, concertos, concertante pieces, chamber musicals, piano pieces, vocal and piano pieces, vocal and orchestra pieces, choirs, anthems and musicals for stage, REY had given a huge contribution to the field of music. His attention to the Turkish Folk Music and folk songs that he composed was a different side of REY that worth for attention. In this research, mostly descriptive research methods and techniques had been used and information about our precious artist, Cemal Resit REY, who is standing out with his versatile works and pieces had been evaluated and interpreted.
