Metropoliten bölgelerin rekabet gücünü etkileyen faktörlere teorik bir bakış

Ulusal ekonomilerin rekabet edebilirliğini belirleyen önemli etkenlerden birisi metropollerin rekabet gücüdür. Giderek yükselen rekabet şartlarında üretim yapan ülkemizde de metropollerin rekabet edebilirliğinin artırılması, sürdürülebilir gelişmenin sağlanmasında önemli bir unsurdur. Uluslararası alanda artan ticaret metropollerin dışa açılma sürecini hızlandırmakta, dünyanın diğer bölgeleri ile rekabet eder duruma getirmektedir. Küresel ekonomiye yön veren dünyanın önde gelen metropolleri; uluslararası finans ve ticaret merkezi olmanın yanı sıra teknoloji yoğun endüstrilerdeki üretim düzeyleri ile gelişmenin yönünü belirlemektedir. Bölgelerin rekabet edebilirliğinin farklı boyutlarının göz önünde bulundurulması bu açıdan oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, bölgelerin rekabet gücüne etki eden; ulaşım, bilişim altyapısı ve yenilikçilik, sektörel üretim yapısı, kentsel yaşam kalitesi, insan kaynakları, kurumsal kapasite ve ağ işbirlikleri gibi unsurları teorik açıdan ele almaktır.

Competitiveness of metropolises is one of the important factors also determining competitiveness of national economies. Enhancing the competitiveness of Turkish metropolises is a crucial factor for sustainable development due to the increasing competitive environment in the global world. Increasing international trade accelerates the integration process of metropolises to the global markets and brings them into the competitive position with the other parts of the world. Leading world metropolises are not only trade and finance centers but direct the development with their high level of technological production. In this respect, it is very important to consider different aspects of regional competitiveness. The study aims at explaining basic elements of regional competitiveness; transportation and communication infrastructure, innovation, sectoral production structure, quality of urban life, human capital, institutional capacity and network relations on a theoretical basis.
