It is known that text studies regarding Old Oghuz Turkish have reached an advanced point in terms of quantity, but it is still hard to say that they are academically adequate . Today, with the help of these texts, we have many studies comparing Old Oghuz Turkish to Ottoman Turkish and Turkish used in today's Turkey as well as those aiming to examine Old Oghuz Turkish accents using the data at hand and the texts publihed so far. The studies of Old Oghuz Turkish accents are relatively recent. The fact that only material to draw conclusions about these accents is the written accounts at a time when there was no voice record makes this research field an especially challenging one. It is evident that the materials chosen from a specific time in history are more beneficial in terms of reflecting the features of accents and vocabulary than historical, religious and scientific texts. Therefore, it is important that the researchers focus more on the texts written for the general public in additon to those using that very language. This study deals with one of such texts, “Hikâye-i Fâtıma” and gives brief information on stories dating back to the time of Old Oghuz Turkish. Besides, it aims to examine the structure of “Hikâye-i Fâtıma”, paying special attention to its morphology, phonetics. The text itself is included at the end. What this study tries to attain is to attract attention to these stories and to the significance of them in determining the accents of a given period in history.
