Sermaye piyasalarında bulaşıcı ve rekabetçi etki:imkb bankacılık sektöründe bir uygulama

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de Tasarruf Mevduatı Sigorta Fonu’na devredilen bankaların, İMKB bankacılık sektörü üzerinde bulaşıcı ve/veya rekabetçi etkiye sahip olup olmadığını araştırmaktır. 1 Ocak 1997 – 31 Aralık 2002 tarihleri arasındaki 6 yıllık süreçte, 11 farklı tarihte 20 banka TMSF’na devredilmiştir. Fon’a devir tarihleri dikkate alınarak İMKB’de bankacılık sektöründe işlem gören hisse senetlerinin anormal getirileri hesaplanmıştır. Fon’a devir tarihlerinde bankacılık sektörü hisse senedi getirileri üzerinde rekabetçi etki tespit edilse de, devir tarihini çevreleyen işlem günleri dikkate alındığında bu etkinin kaybolduğu görülmüştür. Aynı zamanda Fon’a toplu ve bireysel devirlerin etkisi de araştırılmış ve Fon’a toplu devirlerin, daha çok küçük bankalar üzerinde rekabetçi etki oluşturduğu tespit edilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to find out whether the banks, which are transfered to The Savings Deposit Insurance Fund, have any contagion and/or competitive effects on The ISE banking sector. In the 6 years between January, 1, 1997 and December, 31, 2002; 20 Banks were transfered to The Savings Deposit Insurance Fund in 11 different dates. The abnormal returns of the effective stocks in the ISE banking sector were calculated with taking into consider their transfer dates to the Fund. Though there has been determined the competitive effect on the returns of banking sector stocks arround the dates of transfering, to take into consider the process days which surrounded the transfer date, it has been seen that this effect disappeared. On the other hand also it has been studied the effect of collective and personal transfers to the Fund and it has been determined that the collective transfers to the Fund mostly brought competitive effect on the smaller banks.
