Istanbul'un işlevsel alanı

Bu çalışmada İstanbul’un işlevsel alanını (functional area) belirlemek amacıyla İstanbul’dan çevre illere ve çevre illerden İstanbul’a doğru gerçekleşen iş akışları ve işgücü akışları analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda İstanbul için iş akışları bazlı işlevsel alan ve işgücü akışları bazlı işlevsel alan olmak üzere iki farklı işlevsel alan tanımlanmıştır. İstanbul’un iş akışları bazlı işlevsel alanının İstanbul il sınırları ile birlikte Kocaeli ilinin Gebze ilçesinden, iş akışları bazlı işlevsel alanının ise İstanbul il sınırı ile birlikte Tekirdağ ve Kocaeli illerinden oluştuğu tespit edilmiştir.

The objective of this study is to identify the functional area of Istanbul. This study defines the economic activity boundaries of the province, including the results of a field study on Istanbul and its neighborhood provinces. It is diagnosed that Gebze district of Kocaeli province has a labor flow relation with Istanbul at the highest level and it is proposed to include Gebze to the functional area of Istanbul. In addition, it is seen that Tekirdağ and Kocaeli provinces have high level relations with Istanbul concerning the raw material and endproduct flows. Therefore those two provinces located on the circulation of major highway are also suggested to be evaluated in the scope of the functional area of Istanbul
