Batı ortaçağında doğu bilim ve felsefe çalışmalarının düşünce tarihindeki yeri ve günümüz düşüncesi için önemi

Entellektüel dünyada genellikle bilim ve felsefenin Batı’ya ait olduğu, Doğu’da gelişemeği kabul edilir. Bilim ve felsefenin üretilmesi ve geliştirilmesinde Doğu’nun da önemli katkıları olmuştur. Bu makalede, Batı-merkezli felsefe ve sosyal bilimlerin problemli yönlerini ortadan kaldırabilmek hususunda, özellikle de ortaçağdaki Doğu-merkezli bilim ve felsefe çalımalarına yönelmenin gerekliliği vurgulamaktadır. Makalede esas olarak, düşünce tarihi içerisinde Doğu’da ortaya çıkmış bilim ve felsefe çalımalarına eğilmenin, kriz içinde olan Batılı sosyal bilimlere ve felsefelere önemli ölçüde katkı sağlayacağı iddia edilmektedir.

Science and philosophy are appropriated to the west with an unconscious prejudice while the east has been either ignored or even overlooked. In the production and development of the science and philosophy the East has had significant contributions. This paper explores immense eastern contribution into science and philosophy to cope with the problematic aspects of, its contemporary, western medieval social sciences and philosophy, which may still be the case. The claim of this article is that an appeal to the scientific and philosophical studies arose in the East in the history of thought might be a crucial contribution to the Western social sciences and philosophies which seem to be in a crisis.
